Over the last two decades we have developed the business from construction focus to heritage, regeneration and conservation. In Liverpool city centre, under our City Life Projects division, we have regenerated two heritage properties – New Zealand House on Water Street, and the underperforming Sir Thomas Hotel – developing both into hugely successful and sustainable businesses.
The Sir Thomas Hotel sits on the corner of Sir Thomas Street and Victoria Street in Liverpool city centre, just a stone’s throw from the world-famous Mathew Street. The former Bank of Liverpool building has stood on the site since 1882, in the heart of the city’s commercial district. We acquired the building in 2004 and have since invested substantially to return it to its former glory. Sensitive refurbishment has retained many original features, including the building’s magnificent rear staircase, and we continue to invest in its infrastructure – 2018 has seen a major refurbishment of the Sir T Bar and Brasserie restaurant.
Just beyond the city’s boundaries, we have been a management and maintenance partner, involved in the conservation and development of Lord Derby’s estate at Knowsley Hall for over 20 years. The Flanagans team has worked across the estate, including the main hall, home farm and Stanley Grange Business Village, the area’s unique commercial space.
