Nine ‘lads’ – Four days – Two Cities – One Hundred & Twenty Seven Miles – One Canal Apart…
We are a group of lads from around Merseyside/Cheshire who have met from training at a Liverpool-based gym. One of the group has a daughter who attends the Merefield School, an education establishment based in Ainsdale North Merseyside, for students with special educational needs. The school is a wonderful place with exceptional students and staff, with the school’s ‘raison d’être’ that every student fulfils their individual potential. It was therefore thought by the group that ‘we’ would like to undertake a challenge to benefit the school. Given that the school is currently fundraising for a specifically designed adventure playground, this presented the perfect opportunity.
Leeds to Liverpool Canal 4-day Challenge
The challenge will begin in Leeds at the start of the canal on 10th May at around 9am. Nine ‘lads’ in total are taking part and constitute 6 runners and 3 cyclists. The challenge involves covering a daily distance of 32 miles in 3 stages of 2 x 11miles and 1 x 10miles. There will be a 3-hour break in-between stages for change, refuel and recover. The will be 3-nightly ‘stays’, at accommodation along the route and the event will be completed in Liverpool, 4 days after the start, in the early evening (~ 5.30pm at Eldonian Village, Vauxhall).
The Fundraising event took place between 10 – 13 May, 2016.
Please donate and make a difference.
